Display Groups member belongs to  Bottom

  • I'm looking for a module/hack/mod that will somehow display all the groups a specified user belongs to

As my group list gets longer and longer, I am having problems managing which groups users belong to

Does such a critter exist anywhere?
  • Funny, you should ask...Yes...Head to http://www.pnphpbbhacks.com
  • I dun think he means phpbb groups. I think he means Post Nuke Groups.

I made script which works outside of postnuke for mass changing of groups.

  • I'm in the process of getting ready for Christmas, but this and 3Theory's stuff is planned for addition in to my pnGroups module I'm working on. It's basic right now, only adding in the ability to allow users to subscribe to groups. I'm potentially going to be mucking about in the user system as well for .8 and either submitting some new functions to the user/group system for .8 core or releasing totally new versions to replace the core ones. (pnGroups can fully replace the existing NS-Groups).

Correct 3D... Lookin for a postnuke module...not phpbb

I run a Everquest guild site where the usual process is folks register, then apply to our guild, so they get moved from user to applicant group, then get made a full member, so get added to the members group, then some get added to special groups, and with sub-admins, this starts getting confusing

I may play with hacking the user admin module, see if I can get it to do something similiar to what I am looking for which would be:

Pull up a user account, somewhere on the page is a list of all groups on the site, shows whether they belong to that group or not, and have a add and delete from group button

Of course this is my dream, and I by no means claim to be a programmer, but what the hey, only 1 way to learn :)
  • Look at pnGroup http://noc.postnuke.com/projects/halbrooktech

Right now it will do the application process.

Thats cool, looks like something like what I am looking for

Think I may play with that, since it seems to have all the elements I am looking for already coded, now to see if I can get em to say what I want em to say, hehe :)

As I said above, I am a programmer by no means, but I enjoy trying :)

If I get anything similiar to what I am trying to accomplish, I will make sure and let you know and ensure you get a copy to see what I have done
  • Hey mhalbrook that pnFirstVisit is something like I been lookin for.
Where ya been hiding it at :)

    It's great and works perfect.

Donnodoya. If you didn't download the script I made give it a try.
  • I finished up the basic work on it about a month ago I guess. I forgot to post the announcement about it and pnGroups on pnModules. I have a couple of changes to make to it still. If you use pncUserHack you'll need to get the patch file from the bug tracker because the UserHack changes a data field in the database. I need to incorperate the patch back to the main script still.

It and pnGroups are examples of how OSS can be financially benificial, I was paid to write both of them and allowed to release them GPL.
