  • Hi
friends Please help me figure this out. I am currently hosting my site with edatatrack . My site URL is http://www.kurakani.tk and i am running the latest 726 postnuke. I just got an email from my site admin that my site might be eating up too much processor speed on the server. However that makes no sense to me since I get barely 50 visitors on a day so mys site is pretty slow. Anyways has anybody has had to deal with their hosting companies saying their postnuke site have had slowed down their processor. Please share me your knowledge on this matter if a single site can slow sown a hosting provider;s resources.
    thanks
  • Yes I had the case when I had 1500/day.

If you run into this problem with 50 visitors a day, your hoster has got a problem. Probably some sort of misconfiguration.
  • ya thats what i kind of though too. it makes no sense how my site with such asmall traffic can cause a server to slow down. they are saying that someone's site is causing processor to slow down because of the way that site is using the mysql and the httpd supposedly. ANyways all I can do now is wait and see what they come up with.

By the way does anyone know of a good company to host account with that is relaible but affordable.
  • Yeah! Host on my server!

I rent a server after probs with processor load.

10 Bucks a month, PHP, mysql, mailserver, ftp, autoresponders, password protected directories, etc. 1 GB traffic included (2 USD for any extra GB) The server is in Germany. No Illegal stuff.
  • Ok thanks guys, hosting company edatatrack just got back to me and now they are saying that my sites database took too long of processing time and anyways they havent told me a clear answer but seems like my site wont be coming back online unless i get a new hosting compnay. They were saying i would need a dedicated server to host my site.
I personally think thats a bull but not much i can do.

Manarak I am interested on your offer will you please give me more info on your server, the cost of hosting it and etc

By the way do not make the mistake to ever hos a postnuke or any nuke site with E data track.com http://www.edatarack.com/

It took me a long time to learn the right way when it comes to hosting. I have had 7 hosts in the past 2 years. What can I say, I'm picky. Finally I have chose to stay with Surpass hosting ( http://www.surpasshosting.com/ ). I have never been happier with a host before.

  • I'd recommend you to visit http://www.webhostingtalk.com and post your needs on Shared Hosting Offers and Requests forum. You'll be amazed how quickly hosting companies will reply to your posts. And you'll get much more for $10. (I have 1,2GB + 70GB Bandwidth monthly).

    greetings,
    jerzy
  • Chetriya

The cost is just what I told: 10 bucks a month + extra traffic.

The server is managed in one of germany's biggest datacenters and linked to the european fiber backbone, ping times are often under 25 ms.
    Test it for yourself: http://www.swisswebhost.ch
I'm not a hosting company - it's a URL I setup to get some subscribers for my empty server icon_smile

You will get a control panel to configure your databases, e-mail addresses, traffic report, webbased e-mail support, password protected directories, etc.

    Regards
    Manarak.
  • I have been using http://icdsoft.com for years. I get 5GB transfer, 333mb disk space, mysql, PHP, control panel, unlimited email addresses, FTP, FrontPage, phpMyAdmin access to the DB, and the servers are very fast. They have US and Asian datacenters. I get all that for $5 per month. Any subsequent packages with them is only $3.30 per month. Support is excellent; I've never had a problem go more than 15 minutes before it is completely resolved.
  • It definitely sounds like a problem on the host's part.
  • Sounds to me like poorly coded scripts in your installation. Try removing a few "non" core modules you may have installed..
  • Surpass Hosting

24/7 Support. And when they say support, they mean it. They have forums, email, live people on aim, live people on msn, live people on icq, telephone. The best hosting on the internet.
  • Definitly a problem on the host side of things at the core of this issue. I have a reseller account with HTTPme.com and I have at least 7 or 8 PostNuke powered sites running and no problems, and I'm pretty sure there are other PN sites on the server probably. I can also provide hosting, plans and prices at http://www.mdh-hosting.com. I haven't been able to get the SSL for the order form, since i need to purchase IP & SSL both and have a client I'm waiting on a renewal payment from, but I can send a 2Checkout or PayPal payment link easy enough.

  • Just want to point out that two out of about 89 people that suggested a host, recommended Surpass. Just a thought.
  • Even though this is a dated post..

Sounds like your host fed you a line of bs.. I should know I run web servers and 50 users on a postnuke site wouldn't eat up more then 1% cpu time and I wouldn't even worry about ram..

Also for the record you would be eating up too much resources not bandwidth

You can't post on requests on WHT anymore.. too many people getting 4 Gb of space and 100 Gb of transfer for $5 monthly (hope your host stays in business for the long term)

If you need a host, I'd be glad to help you out.. the bandwidth I have available is best suited for the US but of course has okay global reach

And have your basics of Control Panel, personalized support etc.
