  • The website layout is broken, I am IE 5+ on a MAC.
  • Lose the Mac and you should be fine. ;)

Microsoft Rules! You will be assimilated. icon_rolleyes icon_lol
  • It says on the site that some features will not work unless you download the latest version of IE...

(then again this is on windows)

icon_lol MicroSoft and ass(imilated) in the same sentence...

A little off topic, but you are aware that MS is again under scrutiny for violating anti-trust laws, are now trying to place a piece 'reporting' hardware on new machines, and that XP has intrusive, spyware built into the bundled Media player?

    Besides, Mac's is purty :)
  • yes, Mac's are purty,

But what can you do when Microsofts Software is run on 90% of Consumer PC's World Wide? I mean, all these antitrust suits...Microsoft has so much CASH in the bank, I think they can buy thier way out of any serious problem. IMHO.
I think they probably do what most companies accuse them of doing...monopolizing and such but its such an uphill battle with them...its almost impossible to win. Microsoft can drag things in court as long as they want. They have the funds to do it.

Personally. I don't mind Bill and his system. It works pretty well for me. Despite viruses, bugs and such, XP and beyond is semi reliable and user friendly and as long as Micro keeps to that creed its going to be a very hard market to enter or sway toward different products. my .02$ for the day. I'm just rambling too. ;)
  • Here's your .02 back. With IE now being the browser that's behind the times, and no updates planned until Longhorn is realized, Mozilla is in a good place to take over the browser wars, since it's newer, shows more signs of life and is more standards compliant than IE.

  • The only problem with that is.....What are new systems still be shipped with? And what is the rate of people changing thier browsers?

Users I mean the average joe schmoe, shirly girly, who have just enough sense to turn it on, much less try out a new browser.

Although I would love to see a mass exodus to other brands, I don't think the general population will be changing anytime soon. I.E is really integrated into the OS and with auto windows updates , makes people feel its getting updated (every week it seems like).

on a side note, I heard a Rumor that netscape may be dying? That it may be going bye bye? Have you heard that?

I think Mozilla browsers will work well in the Developer/Advanced computer user relams but for the general public and corporations, (its hard enough for them to use Google icon_rolleyes much less learn a whole new browser.) I don't think it will be hitting anything main stream for a while. Until at least it becomes Easier to use and Tout features that I.E doesn't already have.

    There now its .04$

This conversation is getting expensive....I am a Postnuke Developer for "insert explative here" Sake! I can't afford deep conversations. ;)
  • How is it not easier to use than IE? As for features, tabbed browsing, standars compliance, smaller foot print, not embeded in the OS, Popup Blocking, Java Script controls to turn off things like auto open windows, ability to block images by server. There's plenty of things. We developers are the ones that need to lead the way. Too bad the Web Standards Project is no longer doing their campaign.

  • In a coders eyes, mozilla is much easier, much like all the "Great" features we put on our sites thinking everyone will love them...but we think different then most of the ordinary users on our sites. (if you site is not coder oriented).

I just think most regular users of the internet are very slow to follow what we think is the latest and greatest. Even if we make them change. They like simple easy to use and they don't like to install and learn new programs. on the other hand We Do.

We love the latest and greatest. we love to learn the new features and shortcuts that these programs bring.
Something easy for me to use, makes my wife's eyes cross when she looks at it...I use her as a sounding board or when I add a new feature. Hearing her honest answer helps me figure out what I need to change. She's always saying things are too confusing and hard to find. I need to simplify. I never think so but she represents a majority of people using my sites. Semi-computer proficient but not really willing to try a new programs unless they are fairly user intuitive. She can download spyware monster "bonzai buddy" but she won't try mozilla.. go figure ? :)
