UpDownload: Overwriting Files? Keeping old ID/title/filename

Hi all,
** Yes, I have searched everywhere for this. :)
Does the module UpDownload allow you to overwrite current files?
Or, is the only way of updating a file with the same title or filename mean you need to delete the file and upload the newer version?
If the latter is the case, it makes the module difficult to use for non-computersavy staff in an Intranet situation and adds many extra steps for an admin to carry out, ncluding editing all links associated with this file. Of course you can log into the DB and change them, but who wants to do that?
Does anyone know if this is possible?
