Desktop app for RSS Feeds?  Bottom

  • Probably not the right place to post this.
But I'm trying to find a desktop application that I can let me users download and than monitor my sites backend.php and forum rss feed.

I been searching on google for RSS Feed programs but can't find one that is very nice.

I'm just looking for a small app that will really run in the background and will pop up when there is new news.

    Anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance.
  • Try this one. FeedReader.com and look at the top right hand corner. There is one from Sourceforge. I just downloaded and installed for Win 2k and works great. Version 2.5

    Hope this helps.
  • Hi,

Well Mozilla has two extensions to it's browser for RSS feeds.
Probably the most complete is News Monster. It can extend the Mozilla browser or be installed as a stand alone. It is a java based engine so you will need to check your java versions, (and your coffee pot cause there will be a lot of RSS to read icon_lol ) News monster is the beter of the two because it also brings in summeries if you like.

The basic extension for Mozilla is called Agreg8. It runs from the tools menu of the Mozilla browser and draws in article headlines from RSS feeds.

Both can be found at http://extensionroom.mozdev.org/

I know a browser extention is not the same as a desktop app, but News Monster crosses that bridge and we can support the open source browser as well.

Well I Almost Forgot about BradSoft FeedDemon at http://feeddemon.com. BradSoft is the creator of The Original HomeSite HTML Editing program now owned by Macromedia. Bradsoft also maintains TopStyle CSS editor. FeedDemon is their newest creation is in final beta testing. Enjoy!
