    Dear All,

    I have a postnuke/pnphpbb2 installation at www.ucl.ac.uk/wibr/php

The site runs VERY slowly. Initially I thought it was a server issue but now I am not so sure. As a phpbb2 installation on the same server runs fine.

I have added postcalender and PNphpBB2 modules but the slowness in the site was there from the initial PostNuke installation. It there anything I can do to either diagnode the problem or optimise the site?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

un commented this line in footer.php

    // printf("<center><font size="-1">Page created in %f seconds.</center>", $dbg_totaltime);

    getting results like

Page created in 7.570057 seconds and
    Page created in 33.850769 seconds.

but average is about 5-10 seconds

note there are not users using it yet.

    cheers

Have you enabled "compression" in Admin settings - I had similar problems until I did this.

Did you try Chris's suggestion? And if so, what were the effects, negative, positive, etc. I am curious to know how well this helps.

i have tried the site both with and without compression. It seems to make little difference to the speed of the site.

All the time seems to be taken running the PHP code, the actual download takes next to no time.

cheers to chris and jme for trying to help tho

I'm getting about the same page load time as you are. I just upgraded to 0.726 last night. Previous to that it was quick , just like here on postnuke.com

NOTE: My ISP is hostnuke.com which is also the same as postnuke.com

This was all on my test site. On my live site which is still running 0.714 is still running fast, but now I'm worried that if I upgrade it will slow down tremendously.

I've searched through the forums and noticed many people saying they have slow running sites. But they don't specify if its due to installing the latest version and was faster before.

Could some people reply with specifics of their problems?

Any chance the newest installation isn't automatically indexing tables (did previous installations do that?) and that is causing the slow-downs?

Is there anybody out there that just upgraded, did nothing fancy and has no performance issues?

BTW: I've tried the Using compression On and Off settings. Seems to make no difference.

We're having similar problems after running flawlessly for nine months. We think our hosting company's PHP interpreter is not working right. We created a test PHP page separate from the site and it loads slowly. We're using HostNuke. http://www.doctorvar.com Update: We learned today (9/24) that HostNuke was having a problem with the PHP wrappers in their latest upgrade, saying they "are just a little bit tooo secure." DoctorVAR.com is working great after 10 days of frustration.

At DoctorVAR.com http://www.doctorvar.com we've experience slow page loads for the past couple of weeks. It started a week or so after installing the upgrade. We just backed out the upgrade and the site is working fine again. -- Update: In actual fact there has been no significant difference in the site performance following this procedure.

I noticed one of my sites runs a LITTLE bit slower now that I've switched to .726. But I didn't upgrade. I had never finished creating the site and so I deleted all SQL tables and files in the directory, and then I just started from scratch. But I have noticed a small change in speed.

    Hello,
I'm using a great free service from the very nice people at www.f2o.org its great, but I'm getting complaints of very slow response times using 0.726 PN.
We are ready to go and get paid hosting now, so any recommendations would be great.
So, is the 34sp.com hosting able to run 0.726 at a proper speed then?

    Thanks
    Vida
