Here is how I limit Unregistered Users access to certain items on the Main Menu ( :!: I advise pasting this into a text editor and making the columns line up before racking one's brain on the monitor :!: ):

    Rule Group Component Instance Permissions
5 Unregistered Menublock:: Main Menu:(My Account|Logout|Submit News): None

The above rule says the member of Unregistered will not have access to (or even see) the Account, Logout, or Submit News parts of the Main Menus. Notice the use of the vertical bar "|", aka the pipe symbol, to signify the "OR"ing of the specific menu options.

Compare this usage with the docs and I think things should start to gel.

    Hope this helps,

    Dave...

set the permission to none, and then grant permission to a block with a register link (user.php) in it.

You have a SemiColon after the Instance that removes privs for Unregistered. Change that to a Colon and see if that works better

How can I hide the options that unregistered users see?? I thought setting permissions would hide the stuff but they don't.
I'm speaking of the administration, my account & logout.
