Oh dear, oh dear. I replaced the existing code to change the bottom of the "includes/blocks/ephem.php" file as directed but where the ephemerids should appear on my home page (www.berkswich.org.uk/postnuke/) there is now an error message:
"Parse error: parse error in /home/berkswichp/public_html/postnuke/includes/blocks/ephem.php on line 68
Block Type ephem Not Found
.
The block type ephem doesn't seem to exist. Please check corresponding blocks-directory."
I then deleted the newly pasted code and re-inserted the previously deleted code but the same message appears.
Can anyone tell me what I have done and how I get out of it?
Thanks,
Eric -

Hi folks, I have noticed another possible issue in addition to the ones already mentioned in this thread. I thought I would post it here as I've scanned through the forum and have not noticed any information my specific problem but noticed this is the biggest "ephemerid" thread.
When I post a multi-line ephemerid it shows up fine for the first time.
ie.
Quote
Guitarist Dave Gilmour joins Pink Floyd replacing founder Syd Barrett, who checks into a psychiatric hospital before going into seclusion.
The problem occurs one year later. The next year when it shows up everything has an extra linebreak in it.

hospital before going into seclusion.
In my Settings->HTML Options I have the
tag set to "Allowed". That is all I can think of for now. Each year when it displays it does it go in and add this mysterious linebreak somehow, or is this something that occurs via some pre-processing somehow? Thanks in advance! -

Are you sure there hasnt just been a code change in the ephemerids block that caused the formatting to change? Say if you had .726 installed a year ago, but now have .750

I may have added a hack or some modification to the eph block and my install of 0.726 (which was upgraded from earlier version ). There is nothing in the block that writes to the DB so that should rule that out. But you are saying that the upgrade from 0.72? to 0.726 may have affected it ?

I am sorry if I am putting this in the wrong place. I have related problem in that I am enabled Ephemerids but I do not see it anyone as a menu or option. In addition, in my new install I see many active modules but many of them are simply not visible or I can't find them. Help appreciated.
Duster
The one problem with Ephemerids is that the text "On a day like today" shows up even when there are no entries for a date. Because I think that doesn't look right, I haven't enabled ephemerids on my site. I only have a dozen or so out of the 365 days in a year.
Last night while falling off to sleep the solution hit me. Edit the ephemerids file, delete that text and make reference to "On this date" in the ephemerid entries themselves.
The text is found in the file includes/language/blocks/eng/ephem.php
