Suggestion: a Smiley manager?  Bottom

  • i'm new to this game, still just adding a module at a time, cautiously, and i'm getting a bit irritated that many modules seem to have their own list of Smileys, methods of access, and text codes - what's worse, many are duplicates! :x

so what about a Smiley directory, hanging off ~/Images, and an Admin module/block/function/pnHook/whatever that allows one to:

    - view/add/delete Smileys

    - create/edit codes for text that may be used by other modules to represent Smileys like the characters : ) that represent :)

i see that this may be a bit of work, and i'm not asking for it by next Tuesday, but eventually (PN 0.8? ) it would be nice as a core function.
  • I think larsneo has a smilies module that can integrate (through hooks?) with other modules, cant remember what its called thorugh :(

  • Here's a link to larsneo pnHook goodies:

More smilies need to be added, just a matter of adding to his code to increase the number of smiley choices :) and to accept other key combinations

    Includes bbcode hook too.
  • These are modules that i'm looking to add to PN .8 so that a pnAPI compliant private messages module can use them instead of implementing it's only smilies/bbcode etc.

  • OK, i grabbed larsneo's pn_bbsmile module, dumped it into modules, then Selected Administration|Modules|Regenerate, and did all the usual Initialise|Activate stuff.

    but it didn't work!

after panicking and posting here, i had another look, and found i needed to enable IMG+parameters. icon_redface

a bit insecure, that. it might pay in pn.8 to have a domain scope for these things, so i could set IMG etc., to only function within the domain, without allowing foreign images to be expressed, and maybe even a list of other domains which can be allowed, like www.mysmilies.com

anyway, this now works (except for postCalendar icon_evil ), so thanks for the help, much appreciated :!:
