e-commerce under PN  Bottom

  • Hi,

I am thinking of creating a shop running on PN, but have no previous experience of e-commerce sites.

From what I could gather under PN there are these options:

    - PostKart
    - PostTEP (based on old osCommerce)
    - pnCommerce (fork of PostKart)
    - DreamShop (?)

From what I can see these mods are very much WIP, which concerns me as for a business application you need something you are more confident in.

:?: Does anyone have experience running a shop based on these solutions?

:?: Or am I better off going with something like osCommerce and just wrapping it?

If someone can point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated wink
  • Hi,

PostKart will not be developed any longer AFAIK.
PostTEP and Dreamshop are unknown to me.
pnCommerce is a fork of PostKart, but has a lot of features built in. See http://www.pncommerce.com for more information. or visit the support sites at http://pnc.snowbankih.tzo.com (english) or http://www.pncommerce.de (german, english)

I must recommend pnCommerce because I am one ohe the core developers icon_smile

  • How does it compare with osCommerce?
Also I understand its still in alpha?

    thanks
  • I never used osCommerce to be honest. Please contact Jim (sales@pncommerce.com) for more information about this.

And yes, pncommerce is still alpha, but a very advanced alpha. We are planning to release a beta (or an release candidate) mid of August.

  • thanks for that.
  • From a review on PN and forks and the modules for them, I recall it mentioned that the e-commerce modules are for small businesses, using such services as PayPal. osCommerce differs in that it can be used with one's merchant accouth through various gateways. It has not been made into a module yet, but may be worth running as a stand alone program with all the features it offers.
  • Like Frank said, pnCommerce is close to the next release.. All of the 'known' bugs have been fixed. PayPal is fully functional. 2commerce has been integrated and is now fully functional. There are a lot of other options for payment gateways already in pnCommerce.

    Test drive it: http://pncommerce.com

  • Hi chAM,

pnSubscription (soon to be renamed before release) will provide you with the capability to sell products, subscriptions, downloads, services and secure areas of your PostNuke site, also it will have various payment processors, including PayPal, Stormpay, 2CheckOut and more pending.

This module will be available soon, for more information and to keep an eye on the status of its development you are welcome to visit our site (URL is below), we also have forums where you can post questions about the module and make suggestions for features.
