I am using theme "PHP-Report-Blue." I set the permissions back to default. I tried numerous permission strings and nothing will work exactly what I want it to do. This is what I want the permissions to do:

When unregistered users come to the site, I would like them to be able to make comments and vote on polls, but without being able to submit news.
This is what my permissions look like for the time being:

    Code

    Admins .* .* Admin
All Groups Menublock:: Main Menu:Administration: Comment
    Users .* .* Comment
Unregistered Menublock:: Main Menu:(My Account|Logout|Submit News): Read
    Unregistered .* .* Read

Could anyone give me some tips on how to set the permissions to exactly what I need it for or is it theme itself, because we had to fix alot of coding for it as is. I searched all around the forums and found some links on how to solve this issue, but there links are down.

Thanks! Our site looks like this PulseofAC.org

What you have to realise with the PN Permissions system, is that anything not explicitly permitted is automatically denied, so you do not need to think about the submit news issue. Basically what you are asking for is the standard default permissions with some extra permissions for Unregistered users; namely permissions to vote in polls and add comments.

I think the best way to start is to reset your permissions to default, as it is easier to go from there, then we will add the new permission. Start from default which is shown in the image below :

To add Permission to vote for unregistered users, you will need to give the Unregistered group Comment permissions for the Polls Component. You can restrict this permission to a specific Poll by specifying the Poll title::Poll ID instance, or give access to vote in all polls by using the generic all instance .*. In the image below I have given permissions to vote in all Polls:

Before you do anything else, test out the Permission you just added and verify that it works. Do not make too many changes at once, or it becomes very complex to figure out any problems. The next is the ability to comment the Polls. Well, you are in luck :D. The Comment permission you added is just what they need. Nothing more to do, or is it? To get Comments to work for the Unregistered group in Polls you must set Allow Anonymous posts? to Yes in the Administration menu for Comments.

I hope this is a bit of help for you. BTW: you could have found all this information using the forum search function ;)

Thanks for the help it was very useful!!!!
I used the search function, but never found any information like this, I probably just not searching well enough.... icon_redface

Though I see what your saying about permissions. I'm going to try to disable submit news for non registered users, but leave comments on.

    Thanks again!!! :D
