I have look some posts about AutoTheme, and I wanna know what it does? Can I make my own theme throght AutoTheme better than editing the source code from postnuke files?

It's just a way of separating the PHP functions from the HTML content, so it's a little easier for people to use regular HTML editors to make or edit themes. It has special tags like in the HTML themefile which is replaced by the PHP code on output.
It does have some flexibility not currently in the default theme system, like allowing custom templates, colours, and stylesheets for specific modules.
Whether it's better otherwise is an individual choice. The extra processing does slow the site down a bit, not sure how much.
