Newbie question  Bottom

  • Hello all!
I would like to build a site that is a kind of travelguide. I will need to create various tables in the mysql DB that will provide all the data for my pages. I would also like different data on the right of the page, depending on the page that the visitor is viewing.
My question is if PN is the proper tool for this task. Is it possible to create a module that performs this task? How tough is to build a new module? Sorry for long post...i hope it dowsnt mind icon_rolleyes
    Thanks,
    Mike
  • This is easily done with PN, depending on what type of "data" you are talking about. There may be modules that already exist that can be used to do this. The content on the right is no problem. I would install PN, look for some modules that maybe you can use as-is or modify slightly, and test them out.

Get the Revolutionary AutoTheme HTML Theme System! Currently for Zikula, PHP-Nuke, CRE Loaded, osCommerce and Wordpress!
  • and if you do end up needing to develop your own module there is the module development guide, and the postnuke API guide on mods.postnuke.com, also on the mods site you can search for modules

The type of data on the right would be the result of one or more DB queries. So for example, if the current page that a visitor is viewing is about the city of london, the data on the right will display the hiperlinks to some of london's sighseeings (eg museums, parks etc...). When the user clicks on museums, a new page will open with general info about the london's museums. Now, the hyperlinks on the right will be different (eg a list of all the museums in london from my database)

This list is based on users active over the last 60 minutes.
