I had a problem that required a similar solution as the ones posted here. My problem was that Modules had dissappeared from both the Administration section of my site AND the Modules section too. The modules section of pages still worked (I could write in the address to the modules with the appropriate form content). But even after I regenerated the view of my modules, I could not see it.

I could even create a new directory containing the a copy of the modules directory and have that appear after regeneration. But I was not able to get the modules directory to appear no matter what I tried.

Then I read the above posts. And I thought that maybe there was some other magic variable that I needed to correct. I found that by ensuring that both the pn_admin_capable and the pn_state columns were correctly set. In my case I needed pn_admin_capable to be set as 1, and pn_state to be set as 3.

    Hope this helps anyone else
