Suggestion: Content management by email  Bottom

  • Hi - was wondering if any of you postnukers have ever heard of some of these perl scripts Newwwsboy HTNews and mail2html
Well anyway these are scripts that were in early development but seem to be discontinued. They permitted you to update a site by use of emailing the content to specified email addresses - which changed or add news items to a page.

I was wondering if this was possible through PHP and if so would it be a good option for the administration of postnuke. Allow on the fly site update.

Just a thought not a need - a nice extra.
  • I'd love to see this feature added to PN.

I experimented with a mail to HTML service for a while, but can't remeber the name at the moment. Very convenient and easy for non-technical users to submit content.

  • Yup it is official no sooner did i leave this post did i stumble across mailbag and amazing wee script that allows you to post to FAQ etc - even to members as private messages - all through one catch all email address. There is only one catch that i have come across - it allows HTML emails - but it also translates the <doctype etc="etc" which="which" does="does" not="not" get="get"></doctype>
  • It's possible, I have a script I wrote that took an e-mail from my cell, decoded it and sent out a message based on the coded message. I'm planing to modify it and develop it to work with PN, and it shoud be fairly easy to work with other CMS systems just by changing the database info.
