My provider set his php to safe mode problem with pnsession

Hi, I m about to give up on PostNuke with this web hosting... (onlnie.fr) they've just about closed everything down, no chmod available, PHP is in safe mode which means I get the following errors on every page and if I try to disable the pnsession by commenting out the lines then I cannot login to administer:

does anyone know a work around for a web hosting that's so locked down? Ultimately I wont need login for users, but periodically I need to be able to administer it
Just for the fun I installed xoops to test it
and had no problem which means they handle cookies differently from PN... could I edit pnsession to use cookies that go through safe mode? if so how? thanks guys for even readin this ;)
