This is just plain wrong.

I created some "Headline" categories and updated the category registry accordingly for the News module:
Cat1
Cat1/Cat1a
Cat1/Cat1b
Cat2

I can create news articles against any of those categories. All good so far.

But, if I create an article against Cat1a it's displayed on the homepage as:
Cat1a:Headline_text

rather than:
Cat1:Cat1a:Headline_text

If I display Cat1a news then the article is shown. All good. But if I display Cat1 news then it's not, despite the article belonging to a sub-category of Cat1; Cat1a.

So, what's the point of having sub-categories of news when they're all treated as separate folders anyway?

Library/Books/NonFiction/Computers/Programing/Ajax

People/Movies/Action/Scott Baio

New/Local

Story:
Scott Baio read a book on Ajax to the blind at a local library! Clearly, Scott was out of his mind when he starting ranting, "Can't you see, I am reading here!" A riot broke out,... blah blah blah.

Now like a newspaper, I guess you would have to put it in a main section somewhere? Even though it can fit in may sections.

This is how I see it, I have had some pretty deep talks about the categories module in .8 I give Robert and Mateo alot of credit for it. I am not in complete agreement with everything about it either, though. I started writing a paper on it. :D. I should finish it one of these days, as I have been asked to complete it... but I came to a crossroads in my own theory, about managing my system, as well. (it is theoretical, not actual)

I tend to agree with you here and think you should add it as a bug in the NOC [30]. Then the core team can decide what to do about it.

David, it's not exactly the same problem as having to decide where to put something: in this case we know exactly where it should be but wonder why it does not show up where it should.

Well, i guess this needs some good understanding of the current MultiCategorization system, and the current status of the system.
@dunx: Are you using the RC3 right?
i've fixed the subcategories inclusion and you can see it using the latest SVN snapshot [41],
please, evaluate the latest state of the system...

If i have a large tree, i don't want to show it all on the article header,
and i bet that it's not good to have it.
But, i guess that i know what are you trying to do, so please, take a look to your other thread [42].

Yeah, i remember this behavior, and i've corrected after the RC3, so, take a look to the SVN snapshot [43]
