Description

"Content" is a page editing module for Zikula. With it you can insert and edit various content items, such as HTML texts, YouTube & Vimeo videos, Google & Openstreet maps and much more.

Each page has a specific layout - single column, two or three columns, with and without headers and footers (and you can easily add your own).

Feature list:

  • Unlimited number of pages.
  • Multiple page layouts.
  • Manage pages in a hierarchical structure (pages in pages).
  • Automatic menus generated from page structure and displayed in a Zikula block.
  • Automatic sitemap generation.
  • Built-in support for YouTube & Vimeo videos, Google & OpenStreetMap maps, Flickr photos, RSS feeds, Computer Code, HTML text, SlideShare, etc.
  • External support for images and albums from Mediashare (you need the newest version of Mediashare for this).

This is a minor release release with several bug fixes and a few enhancements.
It has been a combined effort of several people (mostly Sven and Erik)

UPGRADE INSTRUCTIONS:
1) Before upgrading, please make a backup of the old module files and database tables,
   since there are changes to the database. The upgrade process has been tested,
   but Content is a complex module, so better be safe than sorry.
2) After backup you can just run the upgrade to the new version and the database tables
   will be updated and new variables will be automatically added.

This is a major release release with a lot of bugfixes and enhancements.

It has been a combined effort of several people. Thanks to Sven (mrtux), Carsten (herr.vorragend) and especially to Erik (espaan), who took over the management and control of the development of this new version and who is responsible for much of the new features is. Thank you very much.

A summary of the changes:
  • Permission checks are updated, more checks on the correct locations and Delete rights are needed for deleting pages
  • New features like cloning of a page and restoring deleted pages
  • New admin setting for new pages (online/offline and used/not used in the menu)
  • New plugin with OpenStreetMap maps (thanks hilope)
  • New basic plugin for camtasia videos (thanks Ralf for the ideas)
  • YouTube and Vimeo video plugin have more options like width and height
  • The Google maps plugin has been updated to the latest JavaScript API version
  • Several minor updates to the permalink generation
  • Category use is now configurable
  • More layout templates to choose from
  • A lot of layout updates and nicer look & feel
  • The page list has ajax enabled green/red buttons for activating pages and placing them in the menu
  • Several database tables now have indexes for more speed (thanks mrtux!)
  • Hook calls are now implemented (to enable for instance crpTag)
  • A new breadcrumb plugin for hierarchical pages (thanks mrtux)
  • A introduction article is created on a fresh install

@trawna The SafeHTML does not affect this plug in, you're not entering the code, just the URL. The module creates the code and generates it, so it works fine.

"content" needs Zikula core 1.2.1
Hi, the "content" module needs at least the Zikula core in v1.2.1 which is not yet released. There were a few bugs (e.g. permalink-check) in the core. Unfortunately, I can offer no other solution.

ATM we have a minor problem with the extdb, so that the POT files are not transfered to the translation portal. For our German users: Until the extdb is fixed, you can find the translation here:

Hi with zikula 1.2.1 RC 2 and content 3.1.0 there is a bug in content, we can not add new page beacause we get this error : There is already permlink.

Dozs zikula 1.2.1 when comes out should fix this?

Pages + MediaAttach = Content (???)
I'm a bit confused...
I'm noodling around a 1.2.1 test website (upgraded, not fresh install) trying to find an easy way to embed multimedia files in
my Pages set, when I noticed this module announce.

After install (also with MUtransport) it seems a way better method to compile and order complex page structres...

But since it's only a first-sight opinion, I wonder if someone here can suggest if this "content" module could be used INSTEAD of the Pages module, of it is to be considered in some way a complement of it...

if things are as I think, Contents could be one of the main modules to have installed on a website... or am I missing some points?

Content 4.0.0 for zk core 1.3 will be even more user friendly, with a revamped user interface more focused towards the user. And Content has great potential.

Superb Functionality
"Content" is very easy to use with a graphical interface and several choices for page layouts and types of content. I am a novice/beginner programmer and web designer but using Content has been quite simple and virtually bug free from my point of view. I anticipate that it will only get better in the future. Very powerful.
