Removed The Hook?
wow that is like, disappointing. Finally there was something looking like it wanted to talk to the outside world via a pipe other than rss. Automatically tweeting the title and URL of a content posting was as hip as it could be obnoxious - full of potential there. I really hope you reconsider this, personally I wanted this module because of that functionality. There are plenty of clients I can post my status with, and I can pull my tweets to the site any number of ways too. It was not as ubiquitous a tool as you might have thought that hook!

In fact...
If a problem was it only tweeted the title and URL shortened, you might look at the trackback excerpt too for some detail to transmit. wow, what was once easy has now become tedious again.

Dunno, I used it for awhile and went back to the RSS Feed import of HootSuite myself.

why go out to a third party...
maybe Sven wants to just keep the ability for a paid app to himself, or he really thinks this is the better way to go. Personally 3rd party services are the reason I choose open source, and apply it in the places I have, To empower others. It is hard to give up power to another, and as an adult I can make that choice. I am building a site for minors, who would be profiled by 3rd party analytics otherwise, it is not my place to make that choice for them, in fact I am bound by motivation to protect them from that as long and in what ever way I can accomplish that. To not outsource, to a 3rd party, original content and the process of it's creation, keeps the value of that content in house, to your client or your self. Even to tweeting or the site rss to facebook, let it come from within your own site directly, not through third parties who each have separate privacy policies and terms of use and would trade on your good will.

Tweeting
Perhaps there will be the possibility to tweet an article in future.
I was working for News. Very well.
But to support every module ... too many code. Sorry.
Thinking about an button as hook to tweet it *after* releasing an article, content, page or whatever is the better way perhaps. Easier to handle.
All the tweeting code is available via API. Including URL shortening. I you have ideas let me know

you could...
you could just put a notice in the admin area for which modules an auto tweet would support, and that activating it for other modules is either pointless or may cause problems. (i did find problems with some modules I had activated for. If I had only known..) A clear notice is simple enough, but the undefined hook feature would create the expectation that more modules would be supported by you. When, now you clearly are defining that you are only going so far with it (eg News, ?/?) you can nip the speculative expectation in the bud. It did work great with news. Damn expectations... :)

I'm Using the New Tweets - Love It
On an event site I installed Zweet so that each News item would become a tweet, that way the twitter followers know there is something new on the site and the link brings them in.
Good thing I didn't install this new version, if I understand that function has been removed?
I just use a simple RSS content block to display the current tweets on the site.

Or at least with FREE outside services
With no revenue plans. http://www.hootsuite.com seriously doubt they'll go anywhere.
