Welcome 0.3
Extension type: Module
Extension originally created by kylegio on Mar 26, 2009
- Description
- Welcome is a light-weight component for Zikula used for displaying rotating and inter-fading images and text, often found on welcome pages of web sites.
Version 0.4
will be out as soon as the block can be re-written and some minor kinks get worked out and a bit a code clean-up!
some changes in 0.4:- complete re-structuring of how the data is stored in the database, the main reason for this is the ability to create multiple blocks with different image sizes, also this lines up the module for V0.5 which will have the ability to create multiple slide shows.
- a nicer to look at and easier to use admin side for adding new slides.
Version 0.3
Some options include:- Setting time between slides
- Setting fade time of slides
- Upload images
- Get images from url's
- Use relative images
- Creates thumbnails of each image so as to preserve quality and aspect ratio
- Position images left or right
- Resizing the fader to any size (all thumbnails will regenerate)
This module depends on the Thumbnail module- Screenshots

Feature Requests being submitted :) Nice concept, I'll see if I can set up a demo on one of my sites. I have use for something like this, but I need to play with hammering it in to what I need it for.

Could not get image size
Like idea of this module and tried to use. Installed on a server running Apache 2.28 and PHP5. When tried to create a new item, the graphic was not uploaded and got the error message:
"Could not get image size"
Have Thumbnail installed on this installation and have permissions for folders set correctly, but can't find what is causing the problem. Any help would be appreciated.

hold out for a few more days -> a week and version 0.4 should be up that is a lot better to use!
will include block features, major code cleanups, reorganizing of how the data is stored in the database and makes sure that settings are set properly.
that said if you are having a problem with it you can email me all details (give as much info as you can so i can try to recreate it) to 078220g@acadiau.ca
one of the most common problems with the folders is that the folder addresses should be relative to zikulas root and should not start with a '/' however it should end with one.
for example:
images/ is the proper setting to save images in the images folder of the zikula install
/images is incorrect it will say you have the setting set properly however it will try to save images in the zikula root and append the word "images" to the front of it so a file "picture.jpg" would become imagespicture.jpg instead of images/picture.jpg
the new version that will be out as soon as i get a couple bugs worked out makes sure that folders are set properly and attempts to fix paths if they are not set properly

You were correct
You were correct. I had input the folder locations incorrectly. As soon as I corrected the folder locations, everything worked like a champ. Looking forward to the next release.
Thank you!

glad to hear it works :), the new version will be easier to use... its still in early stages of what i hope it will eventualy be. however its exam time so massive changes wont start for another couple weeks. as soon as i can get the block part re-written v0.4 will be out.
for everyone who has checked this module out please make suggestions in the form of tickets on Cozi for this project.

I'm hoping to see a new version as well. I've got 3 sites that I could use this, in block form on. Tho all 3 sites, it's only on the home page, so I suppose I could make the module display as a block in the template itself :)

Updates on 0.4 being released?
Do you have an estimate of when 0.4 will be ready?

V0.4
i have not been actively developing this since 0.3 version. since there is some interest in it i might be able to pick it up again.
if anyone would like to take the project over or do a whole re-write of it then feel free.

banners will be able to some of what you're doing with this when I'm done with it probably, either that or the generic rotating image block I'm working on with it.
