The Extended Story Title block (Zikula 1.x and PostNuke 0.764) extends the default Story Title block from the News module with a lot of extra options and customization.

The default Story Title block from the News module is extended with:

• Select multiple categories in more than one category property (topics for pn0.764)
• Select maximum length of the title in characters or no wrapping (with customized suffix text)
• Select maximum age in days of the shown articles
• Select the sorting (the news setting or number of reads) of the articles.
• Choose addtional information displayed with every title
  • Date (dateformat choosable)
  • Nr of Reads 
  • Nr of Comments from EZComments (Comments in pn0.764)
  • Author name with a link to the user profile
• Optional display of the article hometext. Wrapping is possible (with customized suffix text) and uses the new truncatehtml plugin for wrapping a string without braking the HTML markup.
• Optional display of a New image with recent stories 
• The UL list of news articles has a class definition storiesext, so you can define your own layout for the list
• Display the news items in a scrolling block. Scrolling in 3 flavours (Pausing up/down, Fading (only fully functional in IE) and Marquee). Multiple blocks on one page is possible.
• You can choose to have your own row (display of every item) and block (display of the whole list) templates, configurable in the admin section. This opens the possiblity of 2 blocks on one page with a different layout.
• Topic/category properties are now available in the row template, so when showing more than 1 category in the block you can add a link to the specific topic/category. There is a default commented out usage in the row template.
  

This News block will probably later on be part of the News ValueAddon project (http://code.zikula.org/news) . The Content newsarticles plugin in the ValueAddon News project is based on storiesext.
